Talk about a pocket rocket

The Aston Martin built Cygnet, originally hand built for a discerning owner in 2018 is up for sale, if you have to ask the price you probably cannot afford this super car.

Back in 2018, amongst all the broo-hah-hah about emissions controls, Aston Martin made a deal to produce a baby Aston based on the Toyota Scion iQ city car.  This, they hoped, would balance out their line-up of gas-guzzling, mega-powerful supercars. Even with a ridiculous V-8 churning out 400 BHP buried somewhere in the diminutive body it was hoped that this would drag down the carbon emissions for its fleet.

Well, that is not quite accurate. You see, the original Cygnet project kept the Toyota engine, but of course, this proved to be a bit of a disappointment to most Aston Martin aficionados.  With just 1.3 litres and a wheezy 97 horsepower, it just didn’t spin the wheels fast enough. So, one crazy customer requested that a V8 special be built.  It is this one that has just hit the market.

The car was built in the Aston Martin Q modification division over ten months —obviously someone had been watching too much James Bond—with the engine being sourced from a Vantage S sports car. The “Supre-Cygnet” has a claimed top speed of 170 mph and a 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds, all mated to a seven-speed paddle shifter. It sounds like fun to me.

The car only has 2,900 miles on the clock has been maintained by Aston Martin and has spent most of its life in professional storage. It can be yours for…well like I said….. if you have to ask the price you probably cannot afford it.
