Axia Python: A Snake Casually Hitches A Ride Around KL

Is this a PR stunt by Perodua to usher in the Year of the Snake? Recently, a Perodua Axia was captured on video driving around with a large python hanging on to the Axia, presumably taking in the city. The Axia Python as we’re calling it, seemed to enjoy the quicker mode of transport.

The video was shared on Threads by user @tigrechef and was shared in three parts. Three videos for one terrifying journey.

In the first video, the Axia Python can be seen mulling a landing on the road with most of its body hanging onto the roof of the Axia.

At this point it’s unclear if the driver of the Axia realises there’s a slithering stowaway on his roof and bonnet.

In the second video, the camera guy drives up to the Axia’s driver and the driver just shrugs and points at the snake as if to say “Well, it’s just one of those days. What are you going to do?”

Wave off last year’s problems like this man waves off a giant snake on his dashboard

In the last video, you can truly see the length of this cold-blooded carpooler and it’s frightening. We can only assume the driver is heading straight for a fire station.

But given the driver’s nonchalance, I’d say he has accepted his new scaly best friend.

We can’t quite decide what the best thing was for the driver to do at the point he realised an extra from Anaconda had hitched a ride with him, but it definitely wasn’t to go joyriding around town.

Many alternatives come to mind, like say stopping by the clearly wooded area he’s driving through. Turning on the signal lights and waiting for the snake to leave.

Well, if nothing else, this truly proves that 2025 is the Year of the Snake. Happy Chinese New Year everybody!
