The new Tesla Water Engine, will it be a game changer? Does it even exist?

In recent weeks there has been a surfeit of sensational news regarding Elon Musk.  Everything from buying CNN, Tesla mobile phones, USD12k Houses and robots that could get pregnant (I kid you not) and then most recently the release a new engine that runs on water which is set to revolutionise the world of automaking.

The rumour about the engine began on November the 4th when a social media post went viral claiming that Elon Musk, the famed owner of Tesla and the incoming head of efficiency in the next Americaland Government, had announce the advent of a new dawn in personal transportation with a new power unit for his vehicles that runs just on water.

The post, which came with a images of Musk supposedly next to the car and/or the new engine which was purportedly powered by nothing more than water, claimed ground breaking to herald a new era of transportation. A future that offers a clean and efficient alternative to traditional fuels and that included battery power.

But when you look closer at the videos and images it would seem that not is all that it appears to be.

Almost immediately some AI detection tools such as SightEngine and Hive announced that the images were most probably fake.  The wrinkles around Elons eyes, the weird colours the strange Tesla logo on his shirt cast doubt on what we were seeing.

Check out the logo on his shirt.

A quick check on the Tesla website came up blank on any company announcement.  So over to Mr Musks’ X (Twitter) account and nothing there either and trawling through media press releases found no credible source making such a ground breaking claim.

Can you make a water powered engine. Well not unless you can reinvent the laws of thermodynamics and I am pretty sure no one can do that. Sure water does contain energy but it is a stable fluid consisting of hydrogen and oxygen (H2O), to get any energy out you need to add more energy than you can get out of it, so in effect you would lose energy not gain it.

So like so many of these wonderful rumours about Elon Musk and Tesla this one is also false and we will not get ‘free’ energy anytime soon.
